Our Next Event: Aquaculture in the UK

For our next event we are partnering with The Seafood 2040 Programme to explore aquaculture in the UK. We will be covering a range of topics, including the future of the sector, the barriers and opportunities it faces, and how it can work with government and policy. The event will take place online on 26 October at 11am.

UK Government Sets New Timetable for Import Controls

The Government has revised the timetable for implementation of full controls on goods being imported from the EU to the UK. The regulations were originally due to come into effect next month. The Government says this revision will give businesses, including the seafood industry, more time to prepare following the pandemic.
New Report Highlights Opportunities for Scotland's Shellfish Producers

A new report, from Crown Estate Scotland, highlights key opportunities for shellfish producers in the country, including within the UK retail and food service sectors, the development of pharmaceutical products, and the potential to utilise shellfish in the fight against climate change. 
Environment Bill Completes Report Stage in Lords

Members of the House of Lords have concluded their further examination of the Environment Bill in its report stage, voting to make 14 changes. One proposed amendment, regarding the impact of windfarms on the marine environment, was withdrawn. The third reading is scheduled for the 13th of October.

New Allergen Labelling Rules on Prepacked Direct Sale Products from 1 October
New legislation requires that ingredients are fully listed with allergens emphasised. The rules could apply to some products sold by fishmongers or fish and chip shops.
