Final Consultation for the Frontrunner FMPs: What You Need to Know
Fisheries Management Plans (FMPs) set out policies for maintaining one or more stocks at sustainable levels, or restoring them to these levels if needed. Six FMPs have been selected as frontrunners, with a final consultation now launched ahead of their anticipated publication at the end of 2023. This digest summarises the purpose of the final consultation and ways to engage in this, the key issues under consideration for each of the frontrunner FMPs and engagement that has already been undertaken during the FMP development.

The Joint Fisheries Statement: What you need to know
The Joint Fisheries Statement (JFS) was published on 23 November 2022. It sets the direction of UK fisheries management following Brexit, outlining how the fisheries policy authorities of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will meet the eight objectives of the Fisheries Act 2020 to achieve environmental and economic sustainability. This digest focuses on how the final version of the JFS differs from the consultation draft published earlier in 2022.
