First Round of Grants Awarded Under DSS Scheme

The government’s Domestic Seafood Supply Scheme has awarded its first round of grants. Part of a wider financial package offering support to the UK fisheries sector, the grants are awarded to innovative projects working to facilitate the sale and consumption of locally caught seafood.

Draft Fisheries Framework Agreement Published

The government has published its Draft Fisheries Framework Agreement, following its presentation to EU negotiators. Although the UK Chief Negotiator says discussions have been good, a deadlock remains over including fisheries within a UK-EU trade agreement. 

Seafish Spotlights Innovation for the Future of UK Fishing

The latest edition of Seafish's ‘Quay Issues’ magazine highlights innovative ideas for tackling future challenges from across the UK fishing industry, including the possibility of a future emissions-free fleet as part of the global effort to tackle climate change.

New Fisheries Bill Progressing Through Lords

The House of Lords finished close analysis of the Fisheries Bill on 11 March. The Bill will now move on to the report stage, at a date to be announced. The Secretariat's digest of initial significant changes since 2019 is accessible here.

Created with funding from Fish on Friday’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Grant Program and Seafarers UK, the platforms aims to boost sales at no cost to the user.
