Mairi Gougeon Appointed as Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands

Following the recent Scottish Parliament reshuffle, Mairi Gougeon takes up her new appointment as Scottish Fisheries Minister. Gougeon has experience of the fishing and seafood industries, having served as junior minister in the rural affairs office for more than two years.
Scottish Seafood Taskforce Makes Rapid Progress in Addressing Brexit Issues

The Scottish taskforce, formed in response to emerging export issues following Brexit, has reportedly made significant headway in recent months. In particular, progress has been made in reducing the amount of time staff spend filling in paperwork, streamlining the export process.
Cefas Launches New Fisheries 'International Centre of Excellence'

As we enter the UN Decade of Ocean Science, the International Centre of Excellence (ICoE) aims to become the go-to source of advice and expertise for successful fisheries management, through provision of "impartial, robust, and evidence-based advice relating to both target and bycatch species".

NFFO Offers £100k to Fund Safety Training Within the Fishing Industry
The initiative aims to continue improving fishermen's safety at sea, inviting member producer organisations and regional (non-sector) committees to apply.
