Parliament News

New Fisheries Bill Under Analysis

The House of Lords took the Fisheries Bill to committee stage on 2 March. This stage involves a close-focus analysis of the Bill, and discussions over proposed changes. Committee stage continues on 9 March. The Secretariat's digest of significant changes is accessible here.

MMO Fund Open for Applications

The new £15.4m Maritime and Fisheries Fund for England is open for applications. Proposed port developments, seafood processing and marketing, aquaculture investment and vessel safety measures will be considered. The next deadline is 10 April. 
 
EFRA Committee Membership Agreed

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee membership for the new Parliament has been agreed, with Neil Parish once again taking the role of Chair. APPG Chair Sheryll Murray MP (right) was elected as a Member, alongside nine other Members of Parliament.
MMO Consultation on English Reserve Quota

The MMO’s consultation on English reserve quota policy closes on 9 March. They seek opinions from the industry on Defra’s policy on the use of additional fishing quota for fish that must be brought to shore under the Landing Obligation.
