We are thrilled to announce our first event of 2022 which will examine how constructive relationships can be formed between the fishing industry and those establishing and enforcing marine protected areas. A range of experienced speakers will discuss how MPAs and other protective measures can be designed and operated in ways that support sustainable fishing efforts. The event is free to attend and will take place online on Tuesday 22 February at 10am

EFRA Committee Questions Minister Prentis on Annual Fisheries Negotiations

On 1 February, the EFRA Committee gathered to question the Defra Minister of State on fisheries deals recently negotiated with the EU, Norway, and five regional fisheries management organisations. A recording of the meeting is available to watch via this link.
Northern Ireland Fisheries Minister Announces Progress with Harbour Investment Plan

During a visit to Kilkeel, Minister Poots announced that multi-million-pound investments in the harbours at Kilkeel, Ardglass and Portavogie were one step closer. According to the Minister, the developments would allow the harbours to support larger, more environmentally-friendly vessels.
New Guide Explains the Effects of the UK-EU TCA on Welsh Fisheries

A new guide, published by Senedd Research, offers information on the effects of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement on Wales' fishing industry, following the UK's withdrawal from the EU. The guide covers annual negotiations, the adjustment period until mid-2026, and provisional agreements.
