A New Era: The Fisheries Act and Brexit

Please note, today is the last day that questions for the event can be submitted. Send any questions to secretariat@fisheriesappg.org.

Our first event of 2021 will be a special public briefing event, where we will hear from government and fishing authorities about what the Fisheries Act 2020 and the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement mean for UK fishing.

Speakers will include the Rt Hon George Eustice MP, Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and Anne Freeman, Deputy Director of Domestic Fisheries and Reform at Defra.

Questions will be pre-submitted in the weeks ahead of the event, to be answered by speakers during their presentations.

The UK-wide £23million Seafood Disruption Support Scheme Now Open

The Fund covers up to £100K of losses related to export delays per business. It accompanies several government-run targeted support efforts, including the Seafood Exports Working Group and the recently formed Scottish Seafood Exports Task Force. 
Scottish Seafood Exports Taskforce Meets For The First Time

The newly assembled taskforce met for the first time on 12th Feb. Chaired by David Duguid MP, the group of stakeholder and government representatives aims to tackle the ongoing problems with seafood exports to the EU.
 

Scottish Government Launches £7.75m Funding Package For Seafood Sector

The Government fund includes support for fishermen and small aquaculture businesses impacted by Covid-19 and Brexit, alongside funding for the Fisherman's Mission welfare activities. Full details are available on the Scottish Government website.

Eustice Says EU Ban On Mollusc Exports Has No Legal Justification
Secretary of State George Eustice has sent a letter to the EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety seeking to resolve the export ban on Class B Bivalves.
