Who's Who in UK Fisheries Management

Our new article succinctly summarises the key players in UK fisheries management, outlining the roles and responsibilities of governmental, devolved and regional authorities. This includes the roles of Defra, the MMO, Marine Scotland, DAERA, the Welsh Government, IFCAs, RIFGs and more.
Consultation on Dogger Bank Scallop Fishery

The MMO is running a consultation to capture stakeholders’ views on a proposal to extend the closure of the Dogger Bank area king scallop fishery to 1 October. The purpose of the proposal is to provide increased protection for spawning scallop stocks. The consultation ends on 24 August.

Survey to Shape Fish Export Service

The MMO is conducting a survey for those involved in exporting seafood to the EU, to help shape the Fish Export Service and provide useful information to help businesses prepare for UK-EU trade in 2021. The survey focuses on catch certificates, process statements and storage documents.

New Fisheries Bill Progresses Through Commons

The Fisheries Bill entered the House of Commons on 1 July. The second reading, when MPs will debate the main principles of the Bill, is scheduled for 1 September. The Secretariat's digest of initial significant changes since 2019 is accessible here.
