Fisheries and Food Policy

  • Room C (and online) 1 Parliament Street London, England, SW1 United Kingdom (map)

This APPG event will be hosted online via Zoom, and in-person at 1 Parliament Street, London.

Fisheries provide an integral component of the UK food sector, but can be under-represented in decisions around food policy. The domestic market for UK-origin seafood has potential to grow, and this can be aided by policy at the national and regional level. As well as benefiting the fisheries industry, this would also enhance the UK’s food security and could bring benefits for nutrition.

This event will discuss ways to better connect the seafood sector with food policy and the wider food supply chain in the UK. Discussions will cover seafood’s role in food security, interactions between policy and consumer behaviour, and the importance of transparency in the seafood supply chain. Presentations will be followed by opportunities to ask questions and engage with speakers.
