Financial Resilience in Fishing Communities

Incomes from fishing tend to be uncertain, influenced by catch successes, quota regulations, gear repairs and replacements, weather conditions, and other factors besides. This can lead to financial insecurities for members of the fishing industry, which can severely impact their health and wellbeing. Addressing this instability requires novel approaches to financial matters, both from fishermen and their communities, and the organisations that can support them.

This online event heard from organisations who have taken steps to build financial resilience amongst members of the fishing community. Their presentations provided insights into the successes of strategies in coastal communities around the UK, and supplied inspiration for replicating these efforts elsewhere.
